Held the INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE ON CLUSTERS: „Challenges and Opportunities for Cluster Development in South East Europe“

Opatija– Today, on April 16, 2010 the Fourth International Conference on Clusters was organized by the Ministry of the Economy, Labour and Entrepreneurship.

Mr. Ivan Bubić, the State Secretary in the Ministry of the Economy, Labour and Entrepreneurship opened the 4th International Conference by giving the opening address, which is this year addressing the topic “Challenges and Opportunities for Cluster Development in South East Europe”.

According to the State Secretary, Mr. Bubić, the goal of Ministry of the Economy, Labour and Entrepreneurship was to provide by organizing of the said Conference for presentation of the recent experience and models and international experience referring to institutional subsidies to promotion of clusters, as well as the intersectoral networking of clusters, education with exchange of the best experience in the EU states; he pointed out that this was an opportunity to be informed on the actual and useful experience of the other states, which achieved significant progress in use of this aspect of associations of business entities as the method aimed at enhancing the productivity and competitiveness on both European and the world market.

The State Secretary Mr. Bubić pointed out that the Ministry of the Economy, Labour and Entrepreneurship co-financed in the period 2005-2009 the overall number of 46 initiatives for establishing clusters, amounting to HRK 21.5 million and that the planned funds for cluster development promotion amount to over HRK 5 million in 2010.

The 4th International Conference on Clusters is first of all the exchange of experience on establishing and development of clusters, mutual linking of both the current and the new clusters in the area of South East Europe, as well as presentation of the best practice examples from the EU states in the context of projects and programmes of innovation policies referring to development and establishing of clusters.

The Ministry of the Economy, Labour and Entrepreneurship is exceptionally satisfied with the huge interest of domestic companies, clusters, as well as foreign clusters and international organizations in the participation in the 4th International Conference on Clusters; the attending of 150 participants was confirmed, whereof 25 lectures from Croatia, Austria, Italy, Slovenia, Macedonia, Serbia, Germany, Great Britain, France, Romania and Hungary.
